Established in 1976, the Coalition of Northeastern Governors (CONEG) is a non-partisan association representing the governors of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont. In 2012, it absorbed the New England Governors Conference, enhancing its focus on regional collaboration in transportation, energy, environment, and trade.
CONEG actively promotes the economic and environmental well-being of the Northeast through quarterly meetings of environmental commissioners and annual meetings of member governors. It develops legislative models like The Toxics in Packaging Clearinghouse (TPCH) to address pressing regional issues.
