Founded by Bob Langford, who overcame blindness to achieve remarkable educational and professional milestones, Computers for the Blind (CFTB) is dedicated to bridging the digital divide for individuals with visual impairments. Bob's journey began after a tragic accident at age 16, which left him blind. Despite the challenges, he became the first blind person to graduate from public high school in New Mexico and later earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of New Mexico, majoring in Psychology, Social Work, and Education.

Bob's passion for helping others led him to establish CFTB in 1995, with the mission of providing access to technology for the blind. His personal experience with computers revealed their potential to enhance independence and communication. With a refurbished computer, individuals can manage their finances, communicate privately, and access a wealth of information, all of which contribute to a more independent life.
