Our Story

The Community YMCA of Alamance County has been a cornerstone of the local community for over 60 years. Established in 1943, the organization faced challenges during WWII that delayed its official service. In 1954, W.M. Flowe became the first professional director, leading to the construction of the original Y building, which opened in 1955. Over the years, the YMCA has evolved, raising funds for renovations and improvements, and continues to focus on providing quality facilities, programs, and staff.

Impact

The YMCA is dedicated to youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, creating positive, lasting change in the community.
