Behavioral Health Treatment

Our Story

Founded in 1972 by Alan Furst, LCSW, and his father, William Furst, MD, Community Psychiatric Institute (CPI) has evolved from a small psychiatric clinic into a comprehensive behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment organization. With a commitment to pioneering alternative treatments, CPI has become a respected member of the New Jersey Association of Mental Health and Addiction Agencies, serving the Essex County community for over 50 years.

Impact

CPI provides evidence-based, person-centered care that empowers individuals with mental health and substance use disorders. Clients are encouraged to set their own recovery goals, which may include securing stable housing, finding employment, and making healthier lifestyle choices.

Why Donate

While CPI is financially stable and does not rely on grants, donations are crucial for expanding affordable counseling and psychiatric services. Your support ensures that quality treatment remains accessible to those in need.
