Our Story

Established in the summer of 1970, Fun City Youth Academy began with just 25 children in the basement of St. Paul AME Church. Funded by local churches, civic organizations, and grants, the program quickly expanded, moving to Grant Elementary School in 1972 and then to the historic Douglass High School in 1973. This growth led to the incorporation of Community Playground of Columbia, Inc. (CPCI), dedicated to nurturing the potential of youth in Columbia.

Impact

For over 50 years, Fun City Youth Academy has provided a safe and stimulating environment for children aged 5-14, helping them combat summer learning loss and achieve academic success.
