Community Matters: Transforming School Climates

Founded in 1996 by Rick Phillips, Community Matters is dedicated to enhancing the social-emotional climate of schools and communities. With a focus on youth development and bullying prevention, the organization has evolved to provide comprehensive consulting, training, and programs through its Whole School Climate Framework. The tragic events at Columbine in 1999 led to the creation of the Safe School Ambassadors Program, which empowers youth to take an active role in transforming their school environments.

Impacting Lives Across the Globe

Community Matters has positively impacted over 2,100 schools and organizations, training more than 160,000 youth to foster safer and more inclusive environments. Their programs have reached 42 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, and three Canadian provinces, as well as international locations like Japan and Paraguay.
