Community Literacy Centers, Inc. (CLC) was founded in 1987 by a dedicated group of judges, educators, and citizens in Oklahoma County. This nonprofit organization is committed to transforming lives through adult literacy education. CLC provides a welcoming environment where every adult has the opportunity to learn to read, fostering a more literate society.
Each year, CLC offers free classroom instruction to approximately 1,000 adults in the metropolitan area. With the support of volunteer tutors, students gain essential skills that boost their confidence and enhance their personal and professional growth.
There is a pressing need to teach adults to read and achieve self-sufficiency. Illiteracy perpetuates poverty and hinders economic growth. CLC relies on donations to expand its services and reach more individuals in need.
