Our Story
Established in 1980 by Father Maurice Branscomb, Community Kitchens of Birmingham began as The Red Door Soup Kitchen, serving just two people during a challenging economic period. Today, it has grown to serve thousands, continuing its mission to provide free meals to anyone who is hungry, with dignity and respect.
Impact
Serving over 44,000 meals annually, Community Kitchens addresses food insecurity in Birmingham, where 1 in 5 people struggle with hunger. Operating six days a week, it provides nutritious meals to the unhoused and underserved populations.
