About Community Involved in Sustaining Agriculture

Founded in 1993, Community Involved in Sustaining Agriculture (CISA) emerged from a collaboration of educational and nonprofit organizations dedicated to addressing the challenges faced by farmers in the Connecticut River Valley of Massachusetts. This region, known for its rich agricultural heritage, produces a diverse array of products including vegetables, dairy, meat, and more. CISA was born from the Pioneer Valley Alliance for Sustainable Agriculture, which aimed to create a sustainable food and farming system through community engagement and collaboration.

Impact on Local Food Systems

Over the past three decades, CISA has been instrumental in strengthening local farms and engaging the community to build a resilient local food economy. With innovative programs like the Senior FarmShare and support for the Healthy Incentives Program (HIP), CISA ensures that locally grown food is accessible to all, while promoting fair working conditions and environmental respect.

Why Donate?

Your generous donation supports CISA's mission to empower local farms and enhance food security in the region. Every contribution helps create a sustainable future for our agricultural community.
