Our Story
In the early 1990s, a dedicated group of community leaders, healthcare professionals, and uninsured clients united to address a pressing issue in Lubbock: the lack of access to medical care for those in need. This collaboration led to the establishment of the Community Health Center of Lubbock, also known as CHCL, in 1992. With a commitment to providing a hand up rather than a handout, CHCL became a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in 1993, evolving into the largest provider in the region's healthcare delivery system.
Over the years, CHCL has expanded its services to include eight clinics and two mobile units, offering comprehensive medical, dental, behavioral health, and vision services to individuals of all ages. Serving not only Lubbock but also surrounding counties like Crosby, Garza, Lynn, and Terry, CHCL is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of the community.
