Our Story

Community Health and Counseling Services (CHCS) has a rich history spanning 135 years, beginning in 1883 when a group of church women organized Associated Charities in Bangor, Maine. Over the years, CHCS has evolved from an aid organization to a professional services provider, adapting to the diverse needs of the community. With several name changes and expansions, CHCS now offers a wide range of services including mental health, home health, and hospice care.
