Our Story

Since its founding by the Southwest Florida Estate Planning Council in 1979, the Community Foundation of Sarasota County has connected individuals’ personal memories, passions, and dreams with their charitable goals. By listening to donors, the foundation creates permanent charitable funds that ensure lasting community impact.

Impact

With assets of $489 million across more than 1,580 charitable funds, millions of dollars are awarded annually in grants and scholarships to local students and nonprofits. Over $435.8 million has been invested back into the community in education, health, arts, animal welfare, and the environment.
