In 2003, visionary community leaders recognized the potential of a Community Foundation to transform Merced County. The Community Foundation of Merced County (CFMC) was established to channel resources effectively, addressing the unique challenges faced by the community. With guidance from the League of California Foundations, CFMC developed robust policies and funding priorities, ensuring a strategic approach to philanthropy. Over the years, CFMC has become a vital participant in the Growing Community Foundation Circle, enhancing its capacity to serve.

By leveraging an initial $2 million endowment, the Foundation has awarded over $3 million in grants and scholarships, fostering growth and resilience in education, healthcare, and community development.
