Our Story

Founded in 1985 by Sue Van Haren, Community for Youth emerged from a pressing need to address youth violence in Seattle. Inspired by a workshop from the Breakthrough Foundation, the organization began by focusing on youth in the Juvenile Justice system. Over the years, it has evolved to connect at-risk high school students with dedicated mentors, fostering personal growth and educational success.
