Our Story
Founded in 1971 by the American Film Institute and the Office of Economic Opportunity, the Community Film Workshop of Chicago (CFWC) has been a beacon of hope for minorities and the disadvantaged. Under the leadership of the late Jim Taylor, CFWC has nurtured generations of film, video, and photographic artists. The organization has successfully implemented neighborhood film festivals, summer youth programs, citywide career days, and visiting artist programs, fostering a vibrant media community.
