Our Story

Community FarmShare was born in 2020 at Peas and Peace Farm in Poolesville, Maryland, during the global pandemic. A group of dedicated community residents recognized the urgent need to support local food systems and connect farms with families experiencing food insecurity. This initiative unites families, farmers, and community volunteers, all working towards a common goal of ensuring everyone has access to nutritious food.

Our Impact

Thanks to generous donors, Community FarmShare reaches over 1,300 residents weekly, including 400 through our Food is Medicine Program and 900 through our Farm to School Program. In 2023, over 84,000 pounds of fresh produce were purchased from local small-scale farms, directly benefiting the community.
