Our Story

Community Emergency Services (CES) was founded in 1971 through the vision of Pastor William Berg and the philanthropy of Russell Lund, Sr. of Lund’s Foods. Recognizing the need for a more personal approach to social service, Mr. Lund sought to create a program that would provide financial aid with a personal touch. Pastor Berg embraced this vision, emphasizing the importance of connecting with individuals in need. With an initial gift of $5,600, CES was born, supported by the Augustana Lutheran Church Council, which provided facilities, staff, and volunteer support.
