Our Story

Established in 1965 as a result of the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964, the Community Action Program Commission of the Lancaster and Fairfield County Area is dedicated to combating poverty. Governed by a diverse board representing low-income individuals, local officials, and the private sector, this nonprofit organization has a rich history of providing essential programs and services that uplift those in economic distress.

Our Impact

LFCAA has made a significant difference by serving 75 individuals, including 38 children, through the Rutherford House, a permanent supportive housing facility. Additionally, the agency has expanded its Early Childhood Programs, achieving a 5-star rating for quality, ensuring that more children in Fairfield County receive the support they need.
