Our Story

Established in 1965, the Region II Community Action Agency (CAA) emerged from President Lyndon B. Johnson's "War on Poverty" initiative. Initially serving Jackson, Lenawee, and Hillsdale counties, CAA has evolved into a cornerstone of community support, merging local efforts to enhance social and economic opportunities. Over the decades, CAA has introduced vital programs such as Head Start, WIC, and housing assistance, significantly impacting the lives of thousands in the tri-county area.

Impact

CAA's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program has successfully prepared 1,579 tax returns, returning over $1,456,800 to families in need. Since 1998, CAA has placed over 6,000 adults in jobs, demonstrating a commitment to employment and economic stability. The WIC program continues to serve over 1,500 women and infants monthly, providing essential health and nutrition services.
