Our Story

Communities United for Restorative Youth Justice (CURYJ) was founded to combat the Fruitvale gang injunction, a policy that unjustly targeted young people of color. Since then, CURYJ has tirelessly worked to dismantle harmful policies and advocate for community investment. Engaging youth affected by systemic violence, CURYJ empowers them to enact change in their lives and communities.

With a vision to end youth incarceration in California by 2030, CURYJ believes every young person deserves a chance to thrive. Through healing and policy transformation, CURYJ addresses the systemic issues that silence and disempower youth.
