Freedom to Thrive

Our Story

Freedom to Thrive is a national organization dedicated to advancing the decriminalization of communities through strategic partnerships and coalitions. Originally founded as Enlace in response to NAFTA, the organization has evolved to focus on promoting unity among Black and brown communities while addressing anti-Blackness. Since launching the Prison Industry Divestment Campaign in 2011, Freedom to Thrive has successfully divested over $5 billion from the private prison industry.

With a mission to create self-determined, free, joyful, and dignified communities, Freedom to Thrive has built a national movement uniting marginalized communities against criminalization. The organization emphasizes healing, leadership development, and community organizing to combat the intersection of criminal justice and immigration enforcement.
