Our Story
Founded in 1990, Communities In Schools of Wake County (CIS Wake) was established to address the needs of at-risk youth in the community. Inspired by the success of CIS in Greensboro, local leaders Alex Holmes and Glenn Williams rallied support from community stakeholders to create a program that would bring essential resources directly into schools. Over the years, CIS Wake has grown from serving just 116 students in its first year to impacting over 10,000 students through innovative programs and partnerships.
