Our Story

Communities In Schools (CIS) was founded in the 1970s by Bill Milliken, a youth advocate in New York City, who envisioned a model that brings community resources directly into public schools. Since 1994, CIS Baytown has been dedicated to helping students achieve academic success and graduate, ensuring they have bright futures ahead. By collaborating with school administrators, counselors, and the community, CIS Baytown assesses needs and builds a support network for students.

Impact

In the 2022-2023 school year, CIS Baytown achieved remarkable results: 79.8% of case-managed students improved attendance, 93.4% showed better behavior, and 94.4% enhanced their academic performance. Remarkably, 100% of students remained in school, with 93.3% graduating and 99.3% being promoted.
