Communities in Partnership
EIN: 47-5567396 · Durham, NC
Our Story
Communities in Partnership (CIP) was founded in 2011 in Old East Durham, ignited by a community's response to violence affecting local children. Frustrated by the lack of adequate support from city officials, residents united to create a platform for their voices, fostering accountability and change. Since then, CIP has been dedicated to building trust, developing local leaders, and reshaping the narrative of their community.
Impact
Since its inception, CIP has focused on grassroots leadership and combating racial injustice. Their efforts have saved over 1000 years of incarceration through participatory defense and established community-owned properties to protect tenants' rights, ensuring neighborhood stability.
