CommunEcos

Our Story

Founded in 2011, CommunEcos began with the opening of Recyclique, a creative re-use shop in West Durham. This space not only served as a retail outlet but also as a community hub, hosting educational events and film screenings in our EcoLounge. Although the shop closed in 2018, the spirit of community engagement continues through our collaboration with the Eno River UU Fellowship and various local groups. Our mission focuses on environmental education, climate action, and social justice, fostering a sustainable future for all.

Our Impact

Since our inception, CommunEcos has sponsored nearly 500 educational events and public actions, raising awareness about the urgent need to transition to renewable energy sources. Our urban garden project and the establishment of the CommunEcos Foundation for small grants further exemplify our commitment to community empowerment and environmental stewardship.
