Our Story
The Commission on Economic Opportunity for the Rensselaer County Area Inc, known as CEO, was established in 1965 as a private non-profit Community Action Agency. Following the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964, CEO began its journey with the Head Start program, focusing on school readiness for children from low-income families. Over the years, CEO has expanded its services to include a food pantry, WIC program, housing services, and the Foster Grandparent program, among others. Today, CEO serves thousands of individuals in the Capital Region with over 15 impactful programs and employs over 200 dedicated staff members.
