Our Story

Driven by a fervent love for animals, Judy McKonly envisioned a premier shelter for cats in Columbia, Pennsylvania. Although Judy passed away before her dream could be realized, her family was inspired to honor her legacy. They transformed the Vigilant Fire Hall into the Columbia Animal Shelter, which opened its doors in early 2019. The shelter features modern equipment, spacious housing for cats, and a welcoming environment for visitors to interact with adoptable pets.
