Our Story

Founded in 2012 by Jim Enote (Zuni), the Colorado Plateau Foundation was established to bridge the gap between the Colorado Plateau’s Native communities and the national philanthropic sector. In collaboration with the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, Christensen Fund, and Arizona Community Foundation, the Foundation addresses the critical need for philanthropic support in rural Native communities. Through inter-tribal gatherings, tribal leaders have identified key areas requiring immediate attention, ensuring that grantmaking priorities are informed by those directly impacted.

Our Impact

Since its inception, the Colorado Plateau Foundation has awarded over $5.1 million to more than 220 Native-led initiatives, fostering the protection of the Colorado Plateau and empowering the Native communities that inhabit this vital region.
