Our Story

Established in 1982 by the Colorado Supreme Court, the Colorado Lawyer Trust Account Foundation (COLTAF) was created in response to significant cuts in federal funding for civil legal aid. By administering Colorado’s Interest on Lawyers’ Trust Accounts (IOLTA) program, COLTAF utilizes the interest from pooled trust accounts to enhance access to civil justice for those in need.

Impact

With over $50 million granted, COLTAF has significantly improved access to civil justice for low-income residents of Colorado, with approximately 80% of funds directed to federally-funded legal aid programs.
