Our Story

Founded in 1999, the Colorado Criminal Justice Reform Coalition began as the Colorado Prison Moratorium Coalition, advocating for a halt on prison construction. Over the years, it has transformed into a powerful voice for reform, focusing on reducing the overuse of the criminal justice system and enhancing community safety.

Impact

CCJRC has influenced over 30 legislative bills, successfully reinvesting millions from the prison budget into community-based treatment and reentry services. This effort has led to the closure of five prisons since 2009.
