Our Story
Founded in 1965 by dedicated students and community leaders, the Colonie Youth Center (CYC) has been a cornerstone of youth recreation in the North Colonie School District. As family dynamics evolved in the 1970s and 1980s, CYC recognized the growing need for before and after-school childcare, leading to the launch of its childcare program in the early 1980s. This initiative expanded to include South Colonie Middle Schools, ensuring that children had a safe and nurturing environment.
In response to the community's needs, CYC embarked on a journey to create a dedicated facility, culminating in the opening of the Rudy A. Ciccotti Family Recreation Center in January 2007. This state-of-the-art center features two full-size gymnasiums, a suspended running track, a modern fitness center, and an aquatic complex, serving over 7,000 members from all walks of life.
With the recent acquisition and renovation of a new building in Latham, CYC has returned to its roots, housing its administrative office and expanding childcare services for North Colonie families.
