Our Story

Audubon Western Everglades, founded in 1961, is the oldest grassroots conservation organization in Southwest Florida. This dedicated group focuses on protecting the region's natural resources and wildlife through advocacy, education, and community science.

Impact

With a commitment to preserving the environment, AWE has successfully protected 50,000 acres of rural land and educated over 1,350 citizens on shorebird protection. The organization aims to safeguard 134,000 acres in wetlands, a vital goal for the local ecosystem.
