Our Story
Founded in 1999, the Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) emerged from a partnership among California’s major utilities, aiming to enhance energy efficiency in K-12 educational facilities. Recognizing the need for comprehensive improvement, CHPS expanded its focus to encompass all facets of high-performance school design, construction, and operation. With successful projects in California as a model, CHPS has now influenced over 750 projects across more than 70 school districts nationwide, impacting the educational experience of half a million students.
