Our Story
Rev. Avery Hamilton and Dean Woods unite to honor the legacy of the Colfax Massacre, a tragic event in 1873 that claimed the lives of over 60 Black men in Grant Parish, Louisiana. The Colfax Memorial Organization was established to memorialize these victims and promote educational and economic opportunities for Black students in the area.
