Our Story
The Colchester Land Trust was founded in 2002 by a dedicated group of citizens concerned about the rapid development in their town. With a mission to preserve the natural beauty and biodiversity of Colchester, the organization achieved federal nonprofit 501(c)(3) status in 2004. This status allows for tax deductions for land donors and supporting members. Over the years, the Land Trust has successfully preserved significant parcels of land, including the 62-acre conservation easement on River Road and the 88-acre Tangletree Farm. Accredited by the national Land Trust Alliance, CLT demonstrates a commitment to excellence in land conservation.
