Our Story

In 1997, a dedicated group of citizens in Half Moon Bay came together to protect the breathtaking ocean bluffs from urban development. This grassroots effort led to the formation of the Half Moon Bay Open Space Trust, which later became the Coastside Land Trust in 2007. The organization is committed to preserving the natural beauty and ecological integrity of the San Mateo County coast, from Half Moon Bay to Montara.
