Our Story
The Coastal Prairie Conservancy, formerly known as the Katy Prairie Conservancy, was established in 1992 to safeguard the coastal prairie ecosystem before it vanishes. Located in Houston, Texas, this nationally accredited 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization is a leader in local land protection, preserving over 30,000 acres of coastal prairie across southeast Texas.
Our Impact
With ownership of more than 13,500 acres on the historic Katy Prairie and conservation agreements protecting an additional 5,000 acres, the Conservancy is dedicated to enhancing and restoring these vital landscapes. Collaborating with other organizations, the Conservancy ensures a vibrant community while connecting the public with nature through educational programs and outreach.
