Founded in 1996 by Jan Maxson, Holiday Stockings for Homeless Children began as a heartfelt initiative to support homeless children in New York City. After relocating to Seattle, the project blossomed into a community-driven effort, engaging over 800 volunteers to sew, fill, and deliver holiday stockings filled with gifts to children in need.
Since inception, over 75,000 stockings have been filled, reaching more than 4,000 homeless children across 90 shelters and assisting up to 550 unsheltered youth annually in the Puget Sound area.
