Coalition to Protect Michigan Resources
EIN: 38-3466940 · Lansing, MI
Our Story
The Coalition to Protect Michigan Resources was established in 1973 in response to a lawsuit by three Michigan Tribes regarding fishing rights in the Great Lakes. Since then, the Coalition has played a pivotal role in negotiating key agreements, including the 1985 Consent Agreement and the 2000 Consent Decree, to safeguard these vital resources.
Impact
Through successful negotiations, the Coalition has significantly reduced gill net usage and promoted sustainable fishing practices, ensuring the health of fish populations in the Great Lakes.
