Our Story

The Coalition for HIV Awareness and Prevention (CHAP) was established in 2000 after the closure of the Lynchburg Area AIDS Service Organization. Visionaries Rhonda Callaham and Donna Claypoole recognized the urgent need for ongoing HIV education and support in Central Virginia. By uniting service providers and community members, CHAP emerged as a vital independent AIDS Service Organization, committed to enhancing outreach and education through impactful programs like World AIDS Day and National HIV Testing Day.

Impact

CHAP offers free HIV and Hepatitis C testing along with community education programs, playing a crucial role in raising awareness and preventing the spread of HIV in Central Virginia. Through strategic partnerships and community events, CHAP mobilizes resources to meet the needs of those affected by HIV/AIDS.
