Our Story

Coalición Fortaleza emerged from the ashes of the Almeda Fire in 2020, a devastating climate disaster that impacted our historically Latinx, working-class, and senior communities in the Rogue Valley. This intergenerational coalition of community members, leaders, and organizations was born out of a shared vision to address the exploitation, discrimination, and environmental injustices faced by our community. With deep roots in the region, we recognized the need for our voices to be heard in socioeconomic, environmental, and political decisions that affect our lives.

Driven by the hope that we can create something better than what we lost, Coalición Fortaleza is committed to neighborhood preservation, community leadership, and economic development. Our participatory action research project has revealed the extent of our community's loss and the resilience that fuels our mission.
