Our Story

The Closter Animal Welfare Society, known as CLAWS, was founded on December 4, 1969. With a passionate network of volunteers, CLAWS rescues, fosters, and finds forever homes for abandoned and unwanted pets in the Northern New Jersey area. The organization encourages the public to spay and neuter their pets to help reduce the number of unwanted animals.

Last year, CLAWS rescued over 250 cats and dogs, showcasing a strong commitment to animal welfare in the community.
