Climate Resilient Communities
EIN: 88-1697378 · Palo Alto, CA
Our Story
Climate Resilient Communities (CRC) began as a program of Acterra, an organization dedicated to environmental solutions for over 50 years. Initially a volunteer-driven initiative, CRC focused on helping residents reduce energy costs and improve home health through access to subsidized solar panels, energy audits, and weatherization upgrades. In September 2020, CRC became an independent nonprofit, allowing for a broader mission to uplift underrepresented communities in the Peninsula. Since its inception, CRC has recognized the disproportionate vulnerability of under-resourced communities to climate change impacts, particularly in East Palo Alto and Belle Haven.
Our Impact
Since 2016, CRC has made significant strides in community engagement and education. Over 200 local students have benefited from climate education through our Resilient Education program, while more than 250 residents have received essential home safety and green upgrades via the Resilient Homes program. In 2022 alone, CRC allocated $300,000 in infrastructure and funds to community members through the Resilient Adaptation program.
