Our Story

Founded in 2004, Climate Advocates Voces Unidas (CAVU) emerged from the heart of Central America, where visual storytelling became a powerful tool for advocacy. Co-founders David and Jordan Smith harnessed the aerial perspective to share the stories of local citizens affected by environmental degradation. This innovative approach not only garnered an Emmy but also earned CAVU a permanent exhibition at the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum, showcasing the impact of flight and film in conservation efforts.

Our Impact

CAVU’s Climate Innovation Challenge (CIC) addresses the climate crisis, the defining challenge for today’s youth. By engaging students from Indigenous and economically disadvantaged communities across the Americas and Africa, CAVU fosters resilience and empowers the next generation to create culturally-responsive solutions to climate change.
