Our Story

Founded in 2007 by Arthur White, CLICC began as a program of the Connecticut Appleseed Center for Law and Justice. This nonprofit focuses on enhancing communication and relationships between incarcerated parents and their children through literacy and mentoring. In 2020, CLICC became an independent organization, continuing to adapt its programs to meet the evolving needs of families during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Impact

A four-year independent evaluation revealed that children enrolled in CLICC experienced significant improvements in emotional, behavioral, attentional, and relationship difficulties. The program has been recognized for its effectiveness in supporting children of incarcerated parents and reducing recidivism rates.
