Our Story

The Urban Minority Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Outreach Programs (UMADAOP) of Ohio were established in 1980 to address the culturally specific needs of African Americans regarding substance abuse. Founded by former State Representative William L. Mallory, this initiative emerged from the recognition of a significant gap in services for minority communities. With an initial funding of $200,000, UMADAOP has evolved into a vital force in combating substance abuse issues within African American and Hispanic communities across Ohio.

Impact

UMADAOP has made significant strides in promoting health and drug-free living among African American communities throughout Ohio. By establishing collaborative relationships with community organizations and government agencies, the organization secures the health and welfare of these communities.
