Our Story
In 1975, the community surrounding Lily B. Clayton Elementary in Fort Worth ISD faced challenges as the school struggled with declining enrollment. At the same time, many parents, particularly mothers, were entering the workforce at the nearby Fort Worth Medical Center and needed safe, reliable after-school childcare. A dedicated group of parents and teachers collaborated with Fort Worth ISD leaders to create an after-school program that would benefit children, families, and the school district. This initiative not only addressed the immediate needs of parents but also fostered a supportive community within the school. Over the years, Clayton Child Care expanded from one campus to over 60, with parents actively participating on the Board of Directors, ensuring that the commitment to nurturing communities within schools remains strong.
