Our Story
In 1975, the community surrounding Lily B. Clayton Elementary in Fort Worth faced a challenge: declining student enrollment threatened the school's future. At the same time, many parents, particularly mothers, were entering the workforce at the nearby Fort Worth Medical Center and struggled to find safe, reliable childcare after school. A dedicated group of parents and teachers collaborated with Fort Worth ISD leaders to create an after-school program that would benefit children, families, and the school district. This initiative not only addressed the immediate needs of parents but also fostered a supportive community within the school. As demand grew, Clayton Child Care expanded from one campus to over 60, with parents continuing to play a vital role on the Board of Directors, ensuring that the commitment to nurturing communities remains strong.
