Our Story

Clarksdale Animal Rescue Effort & Shelter Inc, known as CARES, was established following an ASPCA raid on the local city-run animal shelter. This no-kill shelter is committed to enhancing the lives of animals and their owners in Coahoma County, located in the heart of the rural Mississippi Delta. Since moving to a new facility in October 2017, CARES has improved its capacity to care for animals in need.

Impact

CARES provides a safe haven for lost and homeless animals while actively engaging the community to reduce pet overpopulation. The organization runs a community food bank, supplying free food to over 600 pets each month, ensuring that every pet receives the care they deserve.
