Our Story
Established in 1952, the Clackamas County Historical Society began its journey by collecting historic objects and photographs from the local community. Officially incorporated in 1953, the society's collection expanded significantly with the generous donation of artifacts by founding member Mertie Stevens in 1968, leading to the opening of the Stevens House Museum. In the 1970s, land was donated for a new museum building, culminating in the opening of the Museum of the Oregon Territory in 1990. The society is dedicated to enriching lives through the preservation and interpretation of Clackamas County's rich history.
